You don’t need flexibility or expensive equipment to practice yoga. Comfortable clothes, a quiet corner, and a simple mat are all you need to begin. With just 10–15 minutes of short daily practice, you will immediately notice the lightness in your mind and the relaxation throughout your body. When starting yoga, the most important thing is consistency. Even on days when you don’t feel like doing anything, simply moving on your mat for 15 minutes will give you far more than you can imagine.
Do Not Compare Yourself
When practicing at home or following online classes, it is easy to compare yourself to the instructor and feel inadequate. Remember that the person on screen has been practicing every single day for years.
Every Body’s Journey Is Unique
Our bodies are all different and one of a kind. Recognizing your personal needs and shaping your practice around them matters far more than how much you stretch or strengthen each day.
Let Awareness Be Your Primary Goal
“How are you feeling right now?”
“How does your body feel?”
“How is your mind?”
“How is your soul?”
These are the essential questions you need to ask yourself first. Notice first. Rediscover awareness every single day.
Now take a deep breath and simply step onto your mat. The best time to take that first step is right now.
